Pygame 2 Update - GPU accelerated!
Wow! It's been so long!
DUGA has a special place in my heart, even though I have been working on other projects for the past years. But recently I got a game breaking bug report from RLFD43 and we can't have that, can we?
The bug has been fixed, the game will no longer crash when reaching level 20. But I have more exciting news!
Please note, that only the Windows version has been updated. If anyone out there with a Mac can help me with an app build, I'd be very grateful!
Hardware accelerated
While bugfixing, I thought I'd experiment with updating to Pygame 2, which I have never gotten around to try. This major update for the framework means, the performance of DUGA has increased by a lot! Now it will be able to run 60fps, though I have capped it at 30, as it was never designed to run in 60fps. A few elements in the game are tied to the frame rate, meaning it simply runs too fast at that rate. I did not expect the possibility of +30fps by the time I made it.
This also means, that the render distance has been increased from 10 tiles to 16! No more looking into the void!
However, if you want to try it out anyway, you can tweak the source code yourself (change the integer in SETTINGS.py called fps)
(October 6th: I also discovered another bug, which has been fixed. The level counter in the statistics was not updating. It is now)
Thank you all so much for your interest in the game. It warms my heart to see that people are still downloading it and commenting on it :-)
